Many of our lawyers have worked on the creative and business side of the industry, as theatre producers, script writers, directors and executives of media companies and can offer a unique insight into the industry unlike many other law firms. In relation to litigation and other contentious matters, we are unique in the UK legal market at being able to offer conditional fee arrangements and "after-the-event" insurance (i.e. if a case is won, you will pay us our full fee (out of your award from the losing side; if a case is lost, you only pay 50% of our fees, but an insurance company will pick up the fees of the winning side). Simons Muirhead & Burton are regulated to effectively write the insurance policies, so the risks normally associated with litigation are dramatically reduced.
